A Server Programmer / Database Developer (Python / NoSQL) is needed to join a rapidly expanding mobile games developer based right in the heart of Leamington Spa. Utilising Python, Linux and NoSQL you will be at the forefront of delivering high quality, innovative and extremely fun mobile games.
Founded in 2011 by David Darling CBE, one of the original founders of Codemasters, this independent game development company employs around 20 people in a bright, open plan office of a listed building in the centre of Leamington Spa. They are working on cutting edge technology for a new mobile game that is going to disrupt the industry and need a talented Server Programmer to help make this happen. As part of the team you will be included in their generous profit sharing scheme. They can offer instant access to any software or hardware needed to get the job done as well as flexible working hours. Joining a team of passionate gamers as a Server Programmer / Database Developer (Python / NoSQL) you will get a chance to work with some of the top British veterans in the games industry.
You will work with another Server Programmer taking responsibility for a range of day-to-day database and server activities. Whilst preparing to support millions of players, you can expect duties to include programming server code, tuning and maintenance; ensuring servers are secure and stable; arranging for live issue debugging; ad hoc scripts; system reports and much more.
To qualify…You should be an enthusiastic Server Programmer / Database Developer (Python / NoSQL) who can demonstrate:
- A proven track record of writing high quality database and program code for servers;
- An excellent knowledge of highly scalable systems;
- Experience in Python;
- Knowledge of Unix, Linux or equivalent development environments;
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases (Couchbase, MongoDB, Cassandra, Memcache, etc);
- A creative mindset motivated by challenges and constantly striving for the best;
- A team player who will contribute daily to developing great games;
- Excellent organisational skills.
Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) is desirable as is experience in a common object-orientated server development language (Java, Scala, C++, C# etc.) Experience gained in the mobile app industry and an interest in video games is advantageous but not essential.
